Abstract
Children's emotion regulation is one of the factors related to psychological state and subjective vitality that can be influenced by parenting. the purpose of the present study was also to investigate the mediating role of emotion regulation in the relationship between mindful parenting and subjective vitality in adolescents of divorced parents. the research design was cross-sectional and structural equation modeling was used for analysis. the statistical population of the present study consisted of adolescents with divorced parents and their mothers in Rasht in 2024 that 211 adolescents (with their mothers) were selected using voluntary sampling method. to collect data, the state level subjective vitality scale (Ryan & Federick, 1997), the emotion regulation checklist (Shields & Cicchetti, 1997), and the mindfulness in parenting questionnaire (McCaffrey et al., 2017) were used. Data were analyzed using Spss and Amos software. the results showed that emotion regulation played a full mediating role in the relationship between mindful parenting and subjective vitality (p<0.001, β= 0.32). The results of the study showed that mindful parenting had a significant effect on the adolescents’ subjective vitality of divorced parents indirectly through emotion regulation. Therefore, mothers' mindful parenting played an important role in improving emotion regulation and consequently increasing the adolescents’ subjective vitality, which provided important implications for family counselors and systemic therapists to improve the functioning of single-parent families.
