Testing the model of the relationship between violence against women on aggressive behavior in preschool children with mediating mental health

Abstract

The aim of this study was to test the model of the relationship between violence against women and aggressive behavior in children with mediation of maternal mental health. Research design used in this study, correlation and path analysis and the study population included all of preschool children in the city of Dezful. The sample was consisted of 250 pre-school children. The sampling method was the simple multi-stage random sampling technique. The participants completed questionnaires of Child Behavior Checklist, General Health Questionnaire and Violence against Women scale. According to the results, the proposed model had an acceptable fitness regarding the fitness indices. The results indicated that the direct relationships between physical and psychological violence against women and maternal mental health were significantly correlated with aggressive behavior and there were not relationships between sexual and economical violence with aggressive behavior. The results indicated the indirect relationships between physical and psychological violence against women with aggressive behavior with mediating maternal mental health were significant and the other indirect pathways were not significant.
