Investigating Study of parenting styles, attachment styles, and early maladaptive schemas in shyness and normal highschool students

Abstract

The inability to establish social relationships is one of the major problems which has a significant deterrent effect on youth and adolescents' efficiency and dynamics and prevents them from forming healthy identities and developing their talents and intellectual and emotional strengths. The aim of this study was to in shyness and normal students of parenting styles, attachment styles, and early maladaptive schemas. The study design was of cross-Sectional. The population of this study consisted of all of the students of high school in Shahin Dezh city (in the West Azerbaijan Province, Iran). 120 shyness and normal students (in group 60 students) were selected using multi-stage random sampling method. The participants completed Samooei's Shyness Questionnaire, Bamerind's Questionnaire of parenting styles, Hazen and Shavers adult attachment, styles and Yang’s short form Schema Questionnaire (YSQ-SF). The data were analyzed using the Independent Samples Test. The results showed that there are significant differents in parenting styles, shyness, attachement styles and schemata among shyness and normal students.
