Abstract
Family savoring refers to process of attending to, maintaining, and sharing positive experiences among family members and playing an important role in enhancing positive emotions, family intimacy, and psychological well‑being. Despite its importance, no psychometrically validated Persian instrument has been available to assess this construct in the Iranian population. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Family Savoring Scale. This study employed a descriptive‑correlational design. The statistical population consisted of adolescents from Borujen city, who were selected through multistage cluster sampling. In Study 1, 133 male adolescents participated for exploratory factor analysis; in Study 2, 250 female adolescents participated for confirmatory factor analysis; and in Study 3, a total of 383 adolescents (the combined sample from Studies 1 and 2) participated to assess convergent and divergent validity. Participants completed the Family Savoring Scale (Luebbe, 2009), the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (Watson, 1988), the Family Expressiveness Scale (Halberstadt, 1983), and the Responses to Positive Affect Scale (Feldman et al., 2008). Data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses supported the one-factor structure of the scale, and the indices for convergent and divergent validity were satisfactory. Moreover, Cronbach’s alpha (0.948) and McDonald’s omega (0.954) indicated excellent internal consistency. Overall, the findings demonstrate that the Persian version of the Family Savoring Scale demonstrates satisfactory validity and reliability among Iranian adolescents and can be used in research and interventions related to family and positive psychology
