چکیده English

Parenting literacy, as one of the components of couple mental health literacy, includes the knowledge, attitude, and skills necessary for raising children. Given the importance of parenting literacy in promoting optimal child development, the aim of the present study was to identify the dimensions and components of parenting literacy, focusing on children aged 6 to 12, from the perspective of experts, in order to provide a framework for promoting knowledge, attitude, and parenting skills in the family environment, given the important role of parenting in the development of children's mental and physical health. The research method was conducted using a qualitative method of content analysis. The statistical population included active experts in the field of children and families who were selected based on purposeful sampling in this field. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 12 experts, and the main dimensions of parenting literacy were extracted. The results of the study showed that parenting literacy includes five main dimensions: Mental health literacy emphasizes prevention, maintenance, and recovery of mental health, and lifestyle regulation. Communication literacy addresses positive parent-child interaction skills and responding to the needs of the child. Media literacy refers to the knowledge and ability to manage children's use of media. Sexual education literacy focuses on educating and guiding children's developmental and sexual aspects, and marital literacy is related to parents' alignment in the parenting role and managing marital conflicts. The present study has identified dimensions of parenting literacy that can be the basis for educational programs and policies to support parents and promote children's mental and physical health.
